Rivers and streams continue a slow rise from snowmelt runoff
across northwest Wisconsin and into the Upper Mississippi, St.
Croix and portions of the Lake Superior basins of Minnesota.
A strong spring storm system is forecast to impact the area
Saturday into Sunday. Rain will spread across the area late
Saturday morning and into the afternoon. Rain will slowly
change over to snow Saturday night, before changing back to rain
again on Sunday. Some locations across northwest Wisconsin and
northeast Minnesota could receive between one half and one inch of
rainfall in addition to wet accumulating snow. This is rainfall
and additional snowmelt will continue rises on area rivers and
streams into next week. The mainstem Mississippi River at Aitkin
and Fort Ripley could approach minor flood stage next week. Those
with interests along area rivers and streams should continue to
monitor the latest conditions and forecasts.
